Work to rule

Recent events at my place of work have made me revise some of my thoughts on work ethics and procedures. In the past, I felt that the company's policy is what is used to guide the procedures and ethical behaviours of members of staff.
I was wrong. These policies are created by a person who their own personal experiences my decide what they want out of the staff in terms of output, input and general team interactions.
Our ethics, however, is what we as workers bring to the fore. Even though things are put in place to guide us it is
our own moral compass that helps us decide if we will follow blindly or do what makes us feel comfortable in the work environment. Of course, us bending the rules is to help to improve the firms' productivity.

Just a thought

Back again, labouring for my cause.
Recently read about the comments that Donald Trump made about countries that are predominantly blacks. It's scary to think that this man holds in his hands the power to start a war.
Okay, I am aware that there are people in every country who are bias and or racist, but knowing that someone with that mindset is at the seat of power is scary for the rest of the world.
Once again we are chained by our fears, enslaved by the thoughts and comments of one man because of who he is. When will we stop giving other people the power, if the comments that he made were never made public then would anyone really care about what he thinks? And if the American people seem to have such a problem with him and his sideline comments then why is he still in power? In a country where they protest everything and display full democratic rights then, why are they allowing themselves to remain a slave to one man's thoughts and actions?

Long dayz

It has been some time since I have posted a blog or commented on a blog. I felt that with the growing trend with social media from 2007 to now that maybe I needed to focus my attention elsewhere. I was wrong. Spreading ourselves thin to be everywhere at once seems to be the in thing. So, here I am back to blogging.

In the professional field of Communication and Media where the social media is being used as a successful tool, we must stop and ask ourselves, if its a tool for communication and media then what exactly are we putting out there, but do we?

It is that we are now slaves to social media?  Why must I have no less than five social media accounts? Why must I spend more than four hours a day on social media?  If we are not checking in first thing in the morning and as soon as we get home at the end of the day, it's during working hours or for those of us that have personal phone use restriction at work it's every and any chance we get.

Are members of our society addicted?
I have heard people blame the device, " My boyfriend is always on his phone", " I met a guy who's always on his phone".  I am here to say that it's no longer the device but what it connects them too.

Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest etc...
These are our links to family, friends and business.  We have made ourselves available to the social media platform 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

I think it may be the first time in human history where we made our selves slaves without someone else doing it to us.
